More about 360° Panorama Images

circular image produced by the macro lens The process of producing a 360° panorama requires a specially designed lens attachment and a digital camera with at least 6 megapixel CCD.  A parabolic mirror reflects the 360°picture through a modified macro lens.  The resulting image is circular as shown.

A bespoke software package is used to'unwrap' the circular image into the flat format required for the viewer.

The image is stored in compressed JPEG format and, if necessary, can be enhanced at this stage to improve saturation, brightness, contrast and sharpness.

The image can then be converted into suitable formats to suit different types of web page viewer e.g. Java Applet
